Paradoxes of Bistami’s world/Poem by Lwiis Saliba read on Zoom, 23/3/2022
Glory to You, my Lord!
Glory to You, how great You are!
Subhânaka Maoulâya subhânak
Subhânak mâ a’zama shânak
I have been searching for you for a long time,
The search for Abu Yazid for Abu Yazid.
This face sparkling with the radiance of Self
I try to insinuate it to call Him
And tell Him… Here I am.
Will I not see you once?
It is better than seeing my Lord
a thousand times!
Glory to you, my Lord!
Glory to you, how great you are!
Subhânaka Maoulâya subhânak
Subhânak mâ a’zama shânak
Can I make a Tayfurian journey?
Fly high where you have arrived.
Look at the tree of Oneness.
A bird you are, my Lord.
A hawk with wings of permanence.
He rose and reached the trail of eternity,
Then he crossed the place of Tawhid (Oneness).
All this is a hoax, he said, of course.
And he returned… he was the only one to return.
Glory to you, my Lord!
Glory to you, how great you are!
Subhânaka Maoulâya subhânak
Subhânak mâ a’zama shânak
Through worship and service you have worked
Worship of the One (the Only One)
And the service of the mother…
You have led a life of hard work
And you have achieved what you have achieved.
Worship, you have brought to the end of annihilation.
Service, you have performed.
As if it were worship.
You have united the One and the Mother in your (spiritual) struggle.
Thus you had the approval of both.
And you ended your path with serenity.
Glory to you, my Lord!
Glory to you, how great you are!
Subhânaka Maoulâya subhânak
Subhânak mâ a’zama shânak
Your Compassion has covered all creatures,
The ant: You have breathed life into it.
You would like to swell yourself after your death
So that hell could contain only You.
Glory to you, my Lord!
Glory to You, how great You are!
Subhânaka Maoulâya subhânak
Subhânak mâ a’zama shânak
You wanted your intercession to extend
to all beings.
If He forgives, He will forgive a handful of dirt and crumbs.
So an ounce of your intercession, my lord, with Him.
And a look from you with the eyes of Truth… (His eyes…)
Thus, you will be our way to You…
To Him…
Glory to you, my Lord!
Glory to You, how great You are!
Subhânaka Maoulâya subhânak
Subhânak mâ a’zama shânak
